Bio:

Reef-Ali was Born in New Jersey in 1977 to Egyptian Parents. Months after his birth he was brought back to Egypt and went back and forth for the next seven years absorbing what both cultures had to offer and picking up the Arabic and English languages. From 1983-1986 he lived in California in the San Fernando Valley experiencing life on the west coast. In 1986 he returned to New Jersey, where he would live for the next 20 years. At the age of 13 Reef-Ali would pick up a pen and write his first rhyme, from that moment he has'nt stopped. Going through all the phases through the years he entered the battle circuit for a couple of years and became known in the NYC underground circuit participating in Braggin Rites, Hookt.com, The Rocksteady Battle, and many more. Being Muslim, the loose tounge that came along with being a battle emcee would form a conflict that would cause Reef-Ali to stop battling. At that moment Reef-Ali brought together all of his skills as an emcee and found his calling, unapologetic Political Hip Hop that expressed the plight of all oppressed people, striking the rare balance of craftsmanship and content in the art of Hip Hop. Reef-Ali went on to Record an Album called Foreign Policy"The Pre-Emptive Strike" a classic Political album that delt with a wide range of topics, From the greatness of gods' creation in "Man vs Machine" to Police misconduct in "Profile" to occupied lands in "Propaganda" and "Free Palestine" to the Plight of African Americans in "X" to materialism in "Breakin Idols" to superstition in "13" and the clever remake of goin back to cali, which Reef-Ali transformed into goin back to "Cairo". This Album solidified Reef-Ali as one of your favorite emcees' favorite emcee. In 2004 Reef-Ali moved back to Cairo Egypt for a Year to Study the Classical fus-ha Arabic. In Egypt he touched up the street Arabic which he already spoke and wrote his first Arabic/English song "Qahira" which will be on his forthcomming album Foreign Policy 2 "Propaganda Machine" due out in 2008. In the meantime Reef-Ali continues to perform at many venues in the tri-state area and has earned a reputation for one of the most entertaining and thought provoking shows in the Underground Hip-Hop circuit and within the Muslim community..
